The roots of Monroe Motor Products can be traced to the Pullman Taxicab Co., founded in 1917 by Max and Issac Gordon. That company led to the formation of Gordon Motor Parts, which evolved into Monroe Motor Products (named after Monroe County, where it’s located), a warehouse distributor servicing independent jobbers throughout New York State. Max’s son, Burt, became president and CEO of the company in the ’70s.
