FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — William Shatner will draw upon his nearly 60 years in show business to inspire and entertain attendees of The Work Truck Show 2010 and 46th Annual National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Convention. Shatner will be the keynote speaker at the President’s Breakfast and NTEA Annual meeting held from 7:30–9:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 11.

Many businesspeople are afraid: Afraid to try something new, afraid to take risks, afraid to abandon some of the safe paths that have brought them past success. In these troubled economic times, however, new paths may need to be forged and new opportunities sought. William Shatner knows a lot about fear and risk-taking from his own experiences and has reinvented himself time and again. Even with current success and pop culture icon status, he continues to explore new creative outlets. During his keynote presentation at the President’s Breakfast, Shatner will share stories of his own fears and his evolution in dealing with them, delivered with his usual humor and sincerity.

Shatner may be most famous for originating the role of Capt. James T. Kirk in the Star Trek television series in the 1960s. He later reprised the role in seven Star Trek movies. Shatner went on to play the title role in the television series T.J. Hooker and hosted television’s first reality-based series, Rescue 911, for six seasons. He has won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his role as eccentric law firm partner Denny Crane on two television series, The Practice and Boston Legal. Although he currently hosts Shatner’s Raw Nerve, a celebrity interview series on the Biography channel, Shatner may be most familiar on television these days in commercials as celebrity spokesman for Priceline.com.

In addition to his impressive television and film credits, Shatner is also a best-selling author. He has written more than two dozen novels and non-fiction books. His novel series TekWar was turned into a television series for the Sy-Fy (formerly Sci-Fi) Network. Shatner’s latest book is his autobiography, Up Till Now. His new comic book series, William Shatner Presents, debuted in May 2009. Outside of Hollywood, Shatner is a longtime horse breeder and is active in several charities dedicated to therapeutic horseback riding.

“We are really looking forward to William Shatner’s keynote presentation,” said Jim Carney, NTEA executive director. “With his background, he is singularly qualified to demonstrate to our members and attendees that you can have more than one success in life and in business, if you work to move past your fears. He knows from experience that there is life after Capt. Kirk.”

The President’s Breakfast and NTEA Annual Meeting at which Shatner will speak is open to Show and Convention attendees by ticket only. Tickets usually sell out early, so advance registration is recommended. Tickets are $55 for NTEA members and $75 for nonmembers (if purchased on or before Jan. 22, 2010). A ticket is also included in the Complete Event Package, which is $299 for NTEA members and $379 for nonmembers (if purchased on or before Jan. 22, 2010).

Registration opens Thursday, Oct. 1. For additional event information, visit www.ntea.com, or call 1-800-441-NTEA (6832).
