Women's Board Raises Record Amount For Scholarships

Car Care Council Women’s Board Raises Record Amount For 2015 Scholarship Program

More than $7,000 raised during winter leadership conference.

WB-logoBETHESDA, Md. – The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) raised more than $7,000 in its third annual silent auction held during the 2015 WB Winter Leadership Conference. The conference took place Feb. 4-5 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Fla. Items for the auction were donated by WB associate companies and auto care industry supporters, and all proceeds will go to the WB scholarship fund, allowing the WB to award a record number of scholarships in 2015.

“A key objective of the WB is to support and encourage women pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket. What better way are we able to do this than through the WB scholarship fund?” said Amy Mattinat, WB president. “We could not be more excited with the results achieved at our silent auction, and we thank every individual and organization that contributed to its success.”

This year, the WB will be giving away eight scholarships to female students studying to enter the auto care industry – four to post-secondary students and four to high school students. The Becky Babcox Women’s Board scholarship recipient, a post-secondary student, will receive $5,000 and a trip to the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. The WB also will administer the 2015 Continental Female Leadership Scholarship, awarding $5,000 to an additional post-secondary student. Two other post-secondary students will receive $4,000 and $3,000, respectively. Three high school senior recipients will each receive $3,000, and one student will receive $1,000.

Other highlights of the WB conference included a technician panel, an update on industry trends and a workshop on public speaking. The 80 attendees also received .8 CEU credits toward their AAP or MAAP designations through the University of the Aftermarket.
