Jan Larson has been a part of the aftermarket distribution business for 36 years, first with The Network, and now, with Automotive Parts Associates. She began as an accounting clerk and a mail sorter, then moved on to national accounts, maintaining price updates, to HR, office manager and eventually to event planning. Larson says it earned her the nickname “Jan of All Trades” while at The Network.
“I worked in just about every department and it was fun learning a lot of the different aspects of the business,” she says.
Today as director of marketing for Automotive Parts Associates, she enjoys face-to-face interaction and event planning the most she says. “I’m such a people person. Having the in-person meetings with our shareholders and our suppliers and having some good conversation, that’s what I enjoy the most,” Larson says.
Her best advice to other women who would like to enjoy a fulfilling 36-year career like hers? “The possibilities are endless,” Larson says. “Believe in yourself and work hard. Confidence is key. Love what you do and own it!”
