BRUSSELS and MOSCOW — WABCO Holdings Inc. has been awarded a major contract to supply anti-lock braking systems (ABS) to KAMAZ, the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the Russian Federation. In addition, KAMAZ has contracted WABCO to supply air disc brakes and actuators for its commercial vehicles.

One out of every two trucks produced in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States is made by KAMAZ, which WABCO has been supplying since 1992. In addition to anti-lock braking systems, WABCO currently provides KAMAZ with electronically controlled air suspension systems as well as components for braking and gear box control. KAMAZ exports a quarter of its production of commercial vehicles to more than 50 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

"As a market leader, we value WABCO’s ability to provide high-quality products while successfully adapting to the requirements of our domestic and export markets," said Rishat Nafikovich Kaviev, KAMAZ purchasing director. "WABCO understands and anticipates our needs. WABCO’s performance further strengthens our own quality system and helps make KAMAZ a better competitor in the global commercial vehicle industry."

"We are proud to be chosen by Russia’s largest manufacturer of heavy duty trucks, buses and trailers as their main supplier for ABS on commercial vehicles," said Jean-Christophe Figueroa, WABCO vice president, vehicle dynamics and control. "Our long-standing partnership with KAMAZ confirms our strategy of continued technology leadership while expanding globally and delivering customer satisfaction on a continual basis. This major new contract demonstrates WABCO’s track record and capability of deeply understanding the specific needs of emerging markets."
