NANAIMO, B.C. VMAC, manufacturer of compact air compressor systems for the mobile-mechanic, tire service, utilities and construction industries, has added a business analyst to its marketing department. In this role, Ian Simpson will provide VMAC with research and recommendations on which critical product development, promotional campaigns and communications decisions are based.
Simpson, a business administration graduate from the University of Vancouver Island in Nanaimo, B.C., is also a participant in the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business Ch’nook Scholars Program. As part of his involvement in the program, he was selected from a wide field of candidates for the Arc Initiative-UNION program a one-week business tools and leadership workshop for Arc Ethiopia in the East African city of Addis Ababa.
As part of his new responsibilities with the marketing department, Simpson will provide advanced analytical ability to enhance the research capabilities of the department and assist VMAC in getting closer to its customers and further understand market needs, trends and developments.
"Ian’s expertise in finance and analytics is a definite asset to an already well-oiled creative team," said department manager Dan Hutchinson.
Simpson has already demonstrated his mastery of VMAC’s complex ERP software, and has come up with novel ways to integrate that data in a highly visible, user-friendly reporting structure. Simpson will be representing VMAC at a number of tradeshows and industry events over the coming year and will use those experiences to further enhance the market analyses he is currently developing.
