DENVER, CO Gates Corp. has announced that Meg VanderLaan, who has been vice president of Corporate Public Relations and Business Development since 2005, was named vice president of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.
As Vice President, VanderLaan will have responsibility for Gates global internal and external communications, and also assumes responsibility for directing the company’s government affairs program.
VanderLaan has served previously as director, Worldwide Strategic Planning, Growth and Innovation Systems from November 2004 November 2005; director, Industrial Power Transmission Marketing from July 2003 October 2004; V and Micro-V Belt business development manager from September 2001 June 2003; and marketing manager, Industrial Belt Marketing from July 1996 May 2000. Prior to that position, she was the Gates Clinic marketing coordinator from July 1995 July 1996.
VanderLaan is a member of the board of directors for the Gates Winhere Automotive Pump Products Joint Venture in China. She serves on the Downtown Denver Partnership/Denver Civic Ventures Board of Directors and the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She represented Gates on the Marketing Executive Council of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association in 2007. She also served as Marketing Committee Chair of the Power Transmission Distributors’ Association from March 2003 October 2005, and as a member of the board of directors of the Center for Spirituality and Work from January 2001 January 2004.
Born in Cleveland, OH, VanderLaan graduated Cum Laude from Gannon University in Erie, PA, earning a bachelor of arts degree with a proficiency certificate in German. She currently lives in Denver, CO.
