University of the Aftermarket Announces Next ‘Heavy Duty Leadership’ Class For 2014

Intensive weeklong experience focuses on leadership, management, industry trends and business skills for heavy-duty manufacturing, distribution, service and fleet professionals.

LAS VEGAS – The University of the Aftermarket’s comprehensive leadership development program, Heavy Duty Leadership, will be offered again in 2014. The next class will be held Aug. 3-8, on Northwood University’s campus in Midland, Mich.

Heavy Duty Leadership is designed to foster the development of the next generation of heavy-duty parts distribution, manufacturing, service, association and fleet management professionals. The program is open to any early- to mid-career management-track professional in the commercial vehicle industry.

The Heavy Duty Leadership program will be taught by heavy-duty industry leaders in collaboration with faculty from Northwood University’s DeVos Graduate School of Management and the University of the Aftermarket. Areas of study will include:

• Global competition in heavy-duty technology
• Succession planning
• OEM dealers as customers and competitors
• Industry supply chain trends and challenges
• Team management and development
• Strategic management
• Developing your unique business strategy in multi-channel markets
• Industry case studies
• Mentoring and leadership
• Guest speakers from the commercial vehicle Industry

The curriculum features a blend of industry analysis, discussion and debate of new challenges and competitive strategies, individual skills training in team management, leadership roles, strategic thinking and planning and more.

“This is the third year we’ve offered Heavy Duty Leadership and I am especially pleased that the program has grown in popularity,” said Brian Cruickshank, director of the University of the Aftermarket. “One of the unique things about the program is that we bring together all levels of the supply chain. This really drives a rich learning environment, as participants gain perspectives from their competitors, customers and channel partners.”

Program tuition ($2,995) includes all instruction, materials and meals. Affordable and convenient on-campus housing is available. Those who are interested in attending the program are encouraged to contact the University of the Aftermarket as early as possible, as class size is limited and last year’s class was sold out early. Participants will receive 3.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that can be applied toward industry education certificates.
