WAUWATOSA, Wis. — TLG Research Inc. (TLGR) has named Thomas (Tom) McElroy to the position of vice president of international operations. His responsibilities will include further development and expansion of the company’s customer relationships and research capabilities focused on the global on- and off-highway, marine, aviation and industrial parts industries.
TLG Research, founded in 1992, is a highly respected marketing research firm with more than 300 years of collective market research experience in the on- and off-highway replacement parts industries. In these markets, TLGR’s client base includes leading multinational original equipment and replacement parts firms. In addition, the company’s virtual organization includes global business and research sources in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific that can be drawn on as needed for consulting and research services, the company notes.
Tom Langer Jr., TLGR president and CEO, said, “Tom McElroy brings to us a tremendous depth of international background that reflects his many years of managing international relationships in our target industries. As the vehicular and industrial marketplaces continue to grow globally, and the world becomes smaller in terms of market research sources, the ability to really have lived the channels and distributors is critical. Tom brings that rich understanding, which will offer tremendous value to our clients.”
McElroy has nearly 40 years of vehicular industry experience. He began his career in sales and service management positions with such leading companies as Gulf Oil, GMC Truck & Coach and Webb Wheel before he joined the Dana Corp., where he worked more than three decades in international marketing. His most recent assignments in Dana were as vice president and marketing director for Dana World Trade (with special emphasis on building the company’s sales representative network in Latin America and the Middle East), and as vice president international sales with the Heavy Vehicle Technologies Systems Group. Reflecting his international emphasis, McElroy was for a number of years a director of the Overseas Automotive Council (part of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association), working to help U.S.-based manufacturers and export companies build strong brand identities in offshore markets.
“The production and distribution of motor vehicle and industrial equipment and components are truly international, and contributing to that international focus has been a big part of my career,” McElroy said. “Quality and price are the universal measures of market opportunity in any country and TLGR has established itself as a quality and price leader in serving some of the top companies in the global marketplace. I look forward to using the business relationships I have built in past years to further reinforce our leadership in the perceptions of our customers and clients.”
