Three Students Awarded Scholarships From The Larry W. McCurdy Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established to honor McCurdy, the late chairman of the board of Affinia Group Inc. who passed away in August 2010, the scholarship fund awards three $2,500 scholarships per year to students in four-year programs preparing for aftermarket careers in engineering, business, accounting or other professional positions.

University-of-the-Aftermarket-Foundation-LogoThree students have been selected as recipients of scholarships from the Larry W. McCurdy Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by Affinia Group Inc. through the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.

Established to honor McCurdy, the late chairman of the board of Affinia Group Inc. who passed away in August 2010, the scholarship fund awards three $2,500 scholarships per year to students in four-year programs preparing for aftermarket careers in engineering, business, accounting or other professional positions. The recipients for the 2015-‘16 academic year are:

  • Rachel Berbert of Marianna, Florida, attending Chipola College in Marianna and pursuing a degree in business administration
  • Emily Blackman of Woodstock, Illinois, attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, pursing a degree in computer engineering
  • Tyler Washington of New Albany, Ohio, attending Capital University in Bexley, Ohio, pursuing a double major in marketing and leadership and management

Additional scholarship funding comes from industry contributions provided by individuals, companies and foundations. Contributions can be made to the Scholarship Fund, c/o Susan Medick at the Auto Care Association, at [email protected] or 301-654-6664.
