The Week In Review (Sept. 18-22, 2006)

By Amy Antenora, Editor

Several major personnel announcements topped the list of the most widely read articles this week.

Among them Willi Alexander’s promotion to CEO of Parts Depot was the most viewed story this week. Rick Levy’s appointment to chairman of the Automotive Distribution Network and news of Neal Zipser’s departure from MEMA also gained a lot of attention from readers.

For the third week in a row, news from the OE segment maintained a high level of interest with AMN subscribers as talk of a potential merger between GM and Ford circulated.

While changes at the Big Three certainly have an impact on the aftermarket, several stories from the supply, service and retail sectors were also widely read, including:

AutoZone’s Fourth Quarter Sales Up 3 Percent

Affinia Group to Close Cambridge, Ontario Facility

California Bureau of Automotive Repair Seeks to Shut Down Southern California EZ Lube Shops

Looking ahead, stay tuned on Monday for our bi-monthly "Ask the Industry" column, where we’ll be talking about software piracy and how to protect against it. In addition, on Monday we will also publish Part II of contributor Chuck Udell’s series on leadership.
