Leading the group of top stories on aftermarketNews (AMN) this week was the announcement that ALLDATA has launched a new website for its professional customers. ALLDATA provides manufacturers’ service and repair information, shop management software and customer relations tools for the automotive repair and collision industries. The new site is designed as a comprehensive, user-friendly tool for exploring all aspects of ALLDATA, its products and business solutions.
Another highly read story on AMN this week shared the news that Continental Tire North America plans to move its headquarters from Charlotte, NC, to a business park in nearby Lancaster County, NC. According to the Charlotte Business Journal, CTNA will move its 350-person headquarters staff to a 65,000-square-foot facility and will keep a small operation at its 1.7-million-square-foot Charlotte facility.

This week also brought news of a major milestone for Elgin Industries. Founded in 1919, Elgin Industries is celebrating 88 years in business this year. In conjunction with this anniversary, the family-owned Illinois company has expanded its automotive and performance lines. The company recently launched a comprehensive rocker arm production department featuring 14 state-of-the-art universal presses and precision tooling for a full range of popular automotive and performance applications.
In addition, AMN readers this week were interested to learn more about Lawrence Mondry, the former CompUSA CEO who has been selected to replace Maynard Jenkins as CEO of CSK Auto. Mondry, 47, has more than 20 years experience in merchandising and executive management positions in the multi-unit specialty retailing industry. He will begin work immediately and is expected to assume the president and CEO positions in early July, upon Jenkins’ retirement. He will also join the company’s board of directors.
