Analysis of this week’s news shows that aftermarketNews readers were most interested to learn about ArvinMeritor’s plan to sell its Emissions Technologies Group. ArvinMeritor is selling the business to New York based equity investment firm One Equity Partners, for approximately $310 million. The sale is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to focus on its core competencies, including chassis, drivetain and apertures.

News that the Automechanika Show is coming to Canada was also highly read this week. Automechanika Canada will be held Sept. 26-28 in Toronto and will run concurrent with Canada’s CarFixWorld event. As with other Automechanika events around the globe, Automechanika Canada will focus on all elements of automotive aftermarket, including parts, repair, accessories and service.

Readers were also interested to learn about the release of several new market research reports from AAIA. Among the new publications released by the association are: the 2006/2007 Aftermarket Factbook and "eFactbook," 2006 Collision Repair Trends: Industry Statistics & Analysis, the Report on Brakes for the U.S. Automotive Aftermarket, the Report on Filters for the U.S. Automotive Aftermarket and the 2006/2007 Equipment Purchasing Trends report.

Bill Kumle has been named director of product development for MaxiForce. Kumle brings more than 20 years of experience in the parts and engine rebuilding industry to the job. He most recently served as operations manager for Engquist Tractor.
