Our tracking of top news stories on aftermarketNews this week showed great interest for the changes Uni-Select has announced for its executive staff. Changes to Uni-Select’s organizational structure included appointing successors to several executives who retired in 2006, as well as an appointment to the newly created position of VP, Strategic Planning and Market Development.

AutoZone also announced several executive-level changes this week, including the resignation of Brad Bacon, who served as executive vice president, Retail/Commercial Operations.

Analysis of this week’s news also showed high readership for our report on the release of Activant’s new eCommerce Web software solution. Activant’s new eCommerce Web software solution enables distributors and jobbers to create self-branded web stores, which can be integrated with the customer’s business management system, as well as ePartExpert online parts catalog and Activant Cover-to-Cover graphical eCatalog module, through the use of Activant AConneX and other eCommerce tools.

The U.S. motor vehicle parts supplier industry has been qualified as the nation’s leading manufacturing sector, according to a new study released by MEMA and the Center for Automotive Research this week. The study shows that the motor vehicle supplier industry accounts for about 4.5 million U.S. jobs and provides more jobs than any other sector in seven states.
