Each week, The Pulse provides insight into the buying, sourcing and brand-loyalty habits of counter personnel and professional technicians. This week, using data from Industrial Marketing Research’s (IMR) Installer Survey, we look at the number of ASE certified technicians at different types of repair facilities.
The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has a mission to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service repair professionals. Becoming ASE-certified is no easy task — it is an accomplishment that not only creates well-trained vehicle technicians but also conveys a message of trust to consumers. This week, we look at data from IMR’s recent Installer Survey to find out more about the types of shops that proudly bear the “Blue Seal.”
According to IMR’s research, Quick Lube shops, on average, have the highest number of ASE-certified technicians per shop (about 3), followed by General Repair Shops, Muffler Specialists and Tire Dealers. OE Dealerships typically have a mean average of less than 1.5 ASE-certified techs per shop.
