In this installment of “The Pulse,” we take a closer look at the yearly fluctuations in unperformed maintenance. Utilizing data from the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association’s (AASA) 2008-2009 Automotive Aftermarket Status Report, we look at unperformed maintenance in terms of dollars.
According to AASA’s research, unperformed maintenance is beginning to again gain ground, rising from $53 billion in 2006 to $55 billion in 2007. The market peaked at $62 billion in 2002 and subsequently dropped off as gas prices began to climb and motorists looked to increase fuel economy in 2005.
