Brand is extremely important in the fuel pump category, with brand loyalty remaining at nearly 80 percent the past two years. Jobbers were used slightly less this year as the primary source when buying fuel pumps, with retailers and WD direct showing small gains in this area. Regardless of whether a shop’s primary source is a jobber, WD, retailer or otherwise, shops look for a good sales rep, fast delivery and consistent availability when ordering this product.
These and other statistics can be found in the Professional Automotive Repair Technician Survey (P.A.R.T.S.), produced annually by Counterman magazine. Eight years ago, Counterman began surveying repair shops annually to determine when, how and why they source specific automotive parts and products. The resulting data, published every Fall, offers perspective on how sourcing and brand-loyalty trends have changed.
