Repair shops surveyed for Counterman magazine’s 2010 Professional Automotive Repair Technician Survey (P.A.R.T.S.) say they perform roughly five jobs per month requiring cabin air filters, and 37 percent of shops keep the filters in stock.
To stock cabin air filters, shops say they rely on approximately 2.8 sources with jobbers by far, as the most important source for the product. Availability can mean the difference in making the sale, and 38 percent said availability is the reason they chose their first call for cabin air filters.
These and other statistics can be found in P.A.R.T.S., produced annually by Counterman magazine. Ten years ago, Counterman began surveying repair shops annually to determine when, how and why they source specific automotive parts and products. The resulting data, published every fall, offers perspective on how sourcing and brand-loyalty trends have changed.
