On average, shops surveyed by Counterman magazine say they perform roughly five jobs a month requiring battery replacement, and 70 percent surveyed say they keep this product in stock. Brand continues to trounce all other factors when it comes to choosing a brand of battery to install, with 83 percent of those surveyed saying they only use battery brands they trust.
While most of the numbers in the chart below have remained consistent year to year, there was a slight up tick in the number of shops who said they get their batteries direct from the WD.
These and other statistics can be found in P.A.R.T.S., produced annually by Counterman magazine. Ten years ago, Counterman began surveying repair shops annually to determine when, how and why they source specific automotive parts and products. The resulting data, published every fall, offers perspective on how sourcing and brand-loyalty trends have changed.
