According to a survey of tire dealerships conducted by Babcox Research, nearly three-quarters (73 percent) of tire dealerships performed automotive service in 2008.
In terms of service volume, 47 percent of those surveyed in the 2008 Tire Review Dealer Profile reported an increase in service sales volume from 2007. Thirty-six percent said service sales volume remained the same and 17 percent saw a decrease. Compared to the prior year, service sales volume slowed in 2008, with 61 percent of locations reporting an increase in sales in the 2007 survey.
