Each week, The Pulse provides insight into the buying, sourcing and brand-loyalty habits of counter personnel and professional technicians. This week, using Babcox Research, we look at the number of service bays at tire dealer shops.
Last week in “The Pulse,” we looked at the number of tire dealers that perform automotive and light truck vehicle service. According to the most recent Dealer Profile conducted by Tire Review magazine, 66 percent of tire dealers interviewed say they perform vehicle service on cars and light trucks, in addition to selling tires.
How many service bays do those performing service have, on average? According to the survey, the average number of bays per location is 5.2. Fifteen percent of respondents said they have more than eight bays per location. The highest percentage of respondents 31 percent reported an average of three to four bays per location.
