While reaching its highest point of 48.8 percent in February, on average in 2009, 45.4 percent of vehicles were serviced in shops where diagnostic tools are used, according to IMR’s research.
The average amount charged for diagnostic procedures in 2009 was $62.40. This fee fluctuated throughout the year from a high of $66.20 in March to a low of $59.80 in August, but overall these numbers are up from 2008, according to IMR President Bill Thompson.
