The Hybrid Shop Appoints Dave Crawford As New CEO

The fast-growing international dealer network providing expert care and specialized service for hybrid vehicles selects industry veteran Crawford to lead the next phase of its growth.

GAINESVILLE, Va. – The Hybrid Shop (THS), a growing international network of dealers committed to providing expert care for hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs), has named Dave Crawford as its new CEO.

In his new role, Crawford will be responsible for THS’ day-to-day operations and management to continue to take the organization’s fast growth to the next level. THS founder and former CEO Matt Curry will continue to oversee THS’ evolution and continued success in his new position as chief visionary officer.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dave Crawford to THS as our new CEO,” said Curry. “He brings a wealth of industry experience and a robust strategy to drive THS’ continued growth and success. We are thrilled for him to join our team.”

Crawford brings a long-standing track record of knowledge and expertise to his new role at THS, built over his 40 years in the automotive industry. Following years of executive-level positions at organizations spanning all aspects of the larger business, including retail, franchises and the operation of multi-location service centers, Crawford’s background includes the full-spectrum of skills and experience, including operations, management and marketing, skills that are critical to taking THS  to the next level of growth and global expansion, the company says. Crawford has also been active in several leading industry groups and publications as a speaker, contributing editor to the trades and author, and has held positions on the board of directors in leading influencer organizations, such as the Tire Industry Association.

Crawford’s key goals for his new position as CEO include a continued focus on attracting progressive dealers worldwide to join’s THS global network, as well as ensuring the organization’s foundational structure is consistently up to the task of supporting, maintaining and driving THS’ ongoing growth in the future.

“I am excited to be joining THS as its new CEO,” Crawford states. “To me, this new role is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead the larger industry in the cutting-edge technology in the burgeoning hybrid market. The possibilities are virtually limitless for the growth THS can achieve in the future, in helping to drive success among key dealers worldwide.”

Since its founding in 2013, THS has continued its upward growth strategy and global expansion, building an international dealer network to provide an environmentally friendly, cost-saving solution that virtually eliminates need for battery replacement in hybrid-electric vehicles. An underperforming hybrid battery can result in decreased fuel economy and torque, leading to significant battery replacement costs, amounting to as much as $4,000 to $9,000. THS’ proprietary hybrid Battery Pack Conditioning is a green service that restores up to 95 percent of the battery pack’s original power and energy, while significantly increasing fuel economy and drivability over the vehicle’s lifetime. The ability to restore, as opposed to replace the batteries is a critical element in the environmental sustainability of these services. In addition to battery conditioning, THS can diagnose, repair and maintain all the electrical systems on a hybrid, as well as, all traditional vehicle systems.
