POMONA, CA — Keystone Automotive Industries CEO Richard Keister accepted the 2006 Automotive Distinguished Good Scout Award from the San Gabriel Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America. A luncheon was held in honor of Keister Dec. 1 at the Sheraton Fairplex. The event raised funds to help reach youth in Pomona, CA.
“I’m truly honored to be recognized by such an amazing organization,” said Keister. “The Boy Scouts of America do a stellar job at developing a foundation of core values for young people to emulate and build upon. Keystone is proud to support such a worthy organization.”
The city of Pomona, headquarters for Keystone Automotive, has more than 50,000 boys between the ages of 6 and 16 who are eligible to take part in scouting; however, less than 1 percent are currently registered as Boy Scouts. Keister and other community leaders are working to increase participation in Pomona by emphasizing the numerous positive experiences and life lessons that the Boy Scouts of America offer, such as leadership training and value building.
In addition to Keystone Automotive, a number of companies sponsored the event, including: Maxzone Auto Parts Corp., Michael Baybak and Company, Inc., Wells Fargo Bank, Principal Financial Group, Wilkin Guge Marketing, Automotive Body Repair News, Cumberland Products, Media by Design, Inc., Micro Rim, O’Neil Data Systems, Professional AutoNEWS and Irish Mike’s.
