PALO ALTO, CA — Frost & Sullivan has presented Tenneco Inc. with the Frost & Sullivan 2005 Industry Innovation and Advancement of the Year Award for being at the forefront in providing advanced diesel exhaust after-treatment solutions for light vehicles. The award is based on the findings in Frost & Sullivan’s recent report, Strategic Analysis of North American Automotive Light Diesel Technologies.

Each year, the Industry and Innovation Award is given to a company that has demonstrated its industry leadership through pioneering technology, sound business strategy, and research efforts that have helped move the state of the industry forward. According to Frost & Sullivan, Tenneco’s excellence in emissions control has extended beyond its technical advancements and encompasses valuable assistance to a comprehensive group of diesel engine market participants, resulting in ongoing improvement of the light diesel industry over time.

A focus on diesel engineering expertise and tools has enabled Tenneco to become a leader in the diesel technology market worldwide, according to Frost & Sullivan. Tenneco began serial production of diesel particulate filters in 2000 and is today a leading supplier of diesel emissions control technologies in Europe with products like urea SCR for NOx abatement, and diesel particulate filters (DPFs) that capture and facilitate the oxidation of trapped soot. In North America, Tenneco has also captured nearly all of the light-duty diesel particulate filter market, and has secured a portion of the heavy duty after-treatment market. Tenneco is working collaboratively with various North American vehicle manufacturers to help them meet the challenges of 2009 and 2010 diesel emissions regulations.

“We’re pleased to recognize Tenneco, a technology-driven company that actively supports innovation to provide effective solutions to its customers,” said Frost & Sullivan Senior Consultant Larry Rinek. “Tenneco’s reputation and leadership position in the diesel emissions control market has been further enhanced by the company’ s demonstrated ability to supply multiple light diesel OEMs with advanced and highly effective after treatment products.”

Tenneco engineers and manufactures a broad range of diesel emissions control solutions. These include diesel oxidation catalysts (DOCs), DPFs, combinations of DOCs and DPFs, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems, and other NOx abatement devices configured to efficiently provide a durable and fully integrated after-treatment solution for the vehicle.
