MONROE, MI — This week, Tenneco Automotive revealed enhancements to its longstanding Expert Plus marketing program for its Monroe and Walker brands.

Now in its eighth year, Expert Plus provides member shops with exclusive marketing and merchandising tools and national promotions designed to drive sales within the ride control and exhaust categories. The 2005 program, which is expected to be utilized at more than 20,000 service locations, features several new member benefits, including an enhanced rewards package with higher redemption point values for qualifying sales of Tenneco Automotive products. Products supported under the program include Monroe shocks and struts, Walker exhaust systems and components, Rancho suspensions and shocks, DynoMax performance exhaust products and DNX performance parts.

Among the program elements for 2005 are an innovative Monroe “shock absorber” counter stool, metal shop sign, posters, wall charts and appointment calendar. In addition, shop owners, technicians and other Expert Plus members receive exclusive point-of-sale kits and other materials supporting Monroe and Walker programs. The Monroe brand, for example, is offering the “Safe All Around,” ride control promotion this spring, which offers consumers up to $80 service comeback certificates for the purchase of qualifying Sensa-Trac or Monroe Reflex products.

“Our members tell us that the consumer promotions really help attract new customers and increase awareness of the importance of ride control and exhaust services,” said Sheryl Bomia, North American Aftermarket programs manager for Tenneco Automotive. “Monroe and Walker traditionally have been very aggressive in reaching out to vehicle owners on behalf of our trade partners and we’re continuing this tradition through Expert Plus.”

Last year, program members redeemed Expert Plus points for more than $800,000 in merchandise, including power tools, sporting goods and other items. “We hope to exceed that number in 2005,” Bomis said.

Expert Plus members also have access to a toll-free technical help line and the updated www.expert-plus.com Web site. Members can use this site to track and redeem program points and, through a new training module, keep their employees up to date on undercar troubleshooting and service procedures.
