While research shows that half of office workers spend more time e-mailing or texting friends than actually working, texting a colleague or business client is where most of us draw the line. According to our most recent poll, the majority of AMN readers agree. Less than 40 percent say they have used text-messaging to communicate with a business client.

While etiquette dictates that texting is far too informal for business communication, there is one exception to this rule, one that is starting to take hold particularly in the distribution segment. Handheld mobile devices or smartphones are becoming an increasingly popular method for distributors to track deliveries and the status of their drivers.
