SURVEY RESULTS: Nearly 75 Percent Say They Will Cut Back on Driving if Gas Prices Go Higher

The good news is that while gas prices are expected to rise, road trips are still the preferred method of travel according to Jiffy Lube's survey.

Reports are showing a slight up-tick in summer vacation plans this year as compared to last year, yet nearly three quarters of AMN Survey respondents said they will cut back on driving and summer road trip plans if gas prices continue to climb.

According to a new survey from Jiffy Lube International, 88 percent of people surveyed say they plan on taking a vacation this summer, up 4 percent from those who indicated they took a vacation last summer. The good news is that while gas prices are expected to rise, road trips are still the preferred method of travel according to Jiffy Lube’s survey. Seventy-one percent of travelers plan to jump in the family car, avoiding buying plane or train tickets and standing in long security lines; 30 percent prefer air travel, 6 percent plan to travel by bus and 6 percent plan to travel by train.
