RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The University of the Aftermarket will host the second seminar in its new supply management program, “How to Redesign Supply Chains,” on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 1-2, hosted by Federal-Mogul Corp., Southfield, Mich.
The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) has joined with the University of the Aftermarket to develop and promote this new supply chain management certification program. Aftermarket executives now can earn automotive aftermarket professional (AAP) or master AAP certification through the University of the Aftermarket.
The first course in this new program, “Developing a Supply Chain Strategy,” was held recently in Troy, Mich., and hosted by Delphi Automotive Systems. Nearly 20 participants learned about developing a supply chain strategy, and designing and managing the supply chain.
“The emphasis in today’s competitive aftermarket environment is on leaner, more efficient operations,” said Paul Foley, vice president of AASA, the aftermarket segment association of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA). “We believe aftermarket suppliers can see significant benefits through a thorough knowledge of supply chain management strategies and techniques, so we have worked closely with the university on this new curriculum.”
The supply chain management program is designed for aftermarket professionals involved in sales forecasting, purchasing, procurement, transportation, logistics, warehousing, production and materials control.
The December seminar will address:
— measuring and recognizing supply chain performance
— demand planning and sales forecasting
— strategic sourcing and purchasing, and supply management
— manufacturing/operations strategies
— logistics and e-fulfillment strategies
