RICHMOND, British Columbia — The board of directors for SmarTire Systems Inc. has promoted vice president of sales and marketing, David Warkentin to president and chief executive officer of SmarTire.

Prior to joining SmarTire in August 2005, Warkentin was the vice president of sales for Intrinsyc Software International, Inc., a Canadian provider of engineering services to wireless mobile device makers and licensable software for the wireless telephone handset market.

From 2000 until 2004, he was the director of sales for Silent Witness Enterprises Ltd., a Canadian company that manufactures security cameras and digital video recorders targeted to the financial, educational and corrections markets. Prior to that, Warkentin was the North American sales manager for Digital Dispatch Systems, where he was responsible for a sales team selling mobile dispatch hardware and software solutions directly to end-users.
