SKF Renews Partnership Agreement with Scuderia Ferrari

The partnership, which started in 1947, has resulted in many wins for Ferrari, most recently with Fernando Alonso's amazing win during the recent European Formula One Grand Prix.

GOTHENBURG, Sweden – SKF has renewed its partnership with Scuderia Ferrari making it the longest-ever uninterrupted partnership in Formula One history.

The partnership, which started in 1947, has resulted in many wins for Ferrari, most recently with Fernando Alonso’s amazing win during the recent European Formula One Grand Prix. The company says this collaboration results in almost a hundred different SKF components, from standard to specialized bearing units mounted on the Formula One car.

SKF has been active in motorsports for more than 60 years and says it strongly believes in the development of solutions dedicated to the racing field. Through the technical collaboration renewed until 2015, SKF works closely with Scuderia Ferrari in the development of cutting-edge technologies in the areas of material, lubrications, and condition monitoring all related to high-speed systems. SKF later transfers these into solutions for the general automotive industry.

The solutions developed and provided to Scuderia Ferrari include bearings for wheel ends, suspension, transmission, gear applications and KERS, a Kinetic Energy Recovery System.
