CSK Auto Tries Discount Retail in New Venture

CSX Auto, the Phoenix company that owns and operates 1,130 auto parts stores in 20 states, has gone full throttle into a new retail business that it plans to expand across the country. CSK’s business plan calls for it to have 10 Pay N Saves open in Arizona by the end of this year. Next year, the push will begin to put the stores in different markets across the country.

Brenton Productions Names New Associate Producer

Brenton Productions, producers of SPEED Channel’s Two Guys Garage and Truck Universe, has named Tim Gifford as its newest associate producer. In his new position, Gifford will be responsible for both new and existing clients’ advertising and product placement on the company’s television productions. A twenty-year veteran in the media business, he will be based out of the production company’s new Nashville, Tenn, office.

Winner Announced for Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Consumer Sweepstakes

Monica Shetler played her cards right by entering Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper’s “Go Fish with Alan” sweepstakes. As grand prize winner, she drove away with 18.5-foot custom Champion bass boat, complete with 150 HP XRX Mercury outboard motor and trailer. Shetler is a customer at Arnold Motor Supply in Marshalltown, Iowa.

U.S. Retailers Kmart, Sears to Merge in $11 Billion Deal

U.S. retailer Kmart, which emerged from bankruptcy protection only 18 months ago, and Sears, Roebuck and Co. announced today plans to merge into a new retail giant by March 2005, in a deal worth some $11 billion. With almost 3,500 retail stores, the new company, to be called Sears Holding Corp., will have $55 billion in sales annually and will be headed by Kmart chairman Edward Lampert.
