Victor Reinz Names Machinist of the Year

Victor Reinz has named its Victor Reinz Machinist of the Year. Along with the AERA and the ASE, Clevite Engine Parts established the Victor Reinz Machinist of the Year Award in order to recognize the valuable contributions machinists make to the automotive rebuilding industry. This year’s award was presented at the AERA New Products Showcase in Las Vegas, Nev. on April 23, 2004.

Beck/Arnley has updated its ElectriCat database to include current Beck/Arnley catalog offerings. ElectriCat manages application details for import or domestic models, including: passenger car, agriculture, industrial, off-road, motorcycle, ATV, marine and light, medium and heavy truck. It currently houses coverage for the years 1912 to 2004, for the Dana Automotive Aftermarket Group’s complete underhood, undercar, electrical, filtration, cooling and driveline offerings.

SKF/Chicago Rawhide Announce Automotive Sales Representative of the Year

SRS Marketing, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa., has been presented with SKF/Chicago Rawhide’s annual Manufacturers Sales Representative of the Year award. SRS Marketing covers Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Metro New York, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and West Virginia for SKF/CR’s Automotive Aftermarket group.

Sears Names Dayco Products a “Partner in Progress”

Sears, Roebuck and Co. has named Dayco Products LLC a “Partner in Progress” for 2003. Dayco, a division of Mark IV, offers the Dayco branded line of belts, tensioners, pulleys and hose through traditional warehouse distributors and national retail firms. Dayco was selected by Sears for its Partner in Progress award from a group of more than 10,000 suppliers from a variety of industries.

Attorney Shirley Peterson Elected to Goodyear Board

Attorney Shirley Peterson has been elected to Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s board of directors. The recipient of a number of national awards, Peterson began a 20-year career as an attorney with the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, D.C., in 1969, becoming a partner in 1978. In 1989, she accepted an appointment by President George H.W. Bush as assistant attorney general, Tax Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. Peterson remained there until 1992, when President Bush appointed her commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service.

Grote Names Brewer, Transpro Top Sales Guns

Grote Industries has awarded its top sales performance awards for 2003. Nan Brewer of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, was named the top aftermarket sales manager, while Transpro of Lee’s Summit, Mo., was named top manufacturer’s representative. Transpro, headed by Jeff White and John Cross, was also awarded the top prize in OEM performance.

TI Automotive Receives Fuel System Contract

TI Automotive has been awarded a contract to supply the complete fuel system for a new sport-utility vehicle that will be built in the U.S. by a German automaker.

ArvinMeritor’s Bill Overmyer Named Advance Auto Parts’ Sales Rep of the Year

Bill Overmyer, national accounts sales manager for ArvinMeritor’s Light Vehicle Aftermarket (LVA) group, has earned Advance Auto Parts’ Advance Factory Direct Representative Award. The award recognizes the achievements of a veteran sales professional who best supports Advance Auto Parts’ marketing, training, customer service and merchandising initiatives. Overmyer was presented with the award at the auto parts chain’s recent annual Leadership Conference.

MACS Recognizes Airsept’s Innovations

The Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) has presented its Industry Innovations Career Achievement Award to Airsept Inc.’s founder and CEO Myron Stein. The award was presented Airsept at MACS’ 2004 Annual Convention. Stein is the owner of twelve patents for unique automotive products.
