Plymouth Township, Mich., will retain its largest taxpayer for the time being. Johnson Controls officials recently announced they will not to move to Salem Township this year, but still expect to relocate their headquarters and technology facilities from Plymouth Township to a larger site when a suitable location is found.

ArvinMeritor Secures $200-Million Suspension Module Contract

ArvinMeritor’s Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) business group has been awarded a new, annual $200-million light vehicle suspension systems contract for the final assembly of front- and rear-cross car modules to begin production in the fourth quarter of October 2005. The identity of the customer, and terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Under ideal conditions, employers have just the right number of employees to perform the work that needs to be done. Overtime payroll costs are minimal, incurred only in those rare instances when there is some unusual circumstance or a critical employee is ill or on vacation. Hayes Lemmerz International has purchased certain assets from Hayes Wheels de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. and sold its equity interest in Hayes Wheels de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., to DESC, S.A. de C.V. According to Fred Bentley, president of Hayes Lemmerz’ International Wheel Group, the transaction is a key step in the company’s strategy to focus on the growth market for aluminum wheels.

NAPA Names Robert Susor as President

Robert Susor will succeed Steve Handschuh as NAPA president. The decision was made following the announcement that Handschuh would be leaving NAPA to take a position as senior vice president of AZ Commercial, AutoZone’s wholesale division. Susor most recently was executive vice president of NAPA member Genuine Parts Co.

Oxford Automotive Names Two to Top Management Positions

Oxford Automotive, a $1 billion Tier 1 supplier of specialized welded metal assemblies, has announced two key management changes. Jeffrey Wilson, current president of Oxford Automotive’s North American division, has been appointed president and COO of Oxford Automotive Inc. Patrick Flynn, current vice president of strategic planning, has been named CFO, replacing Martin Welch who resigned last week to pursue other interests.
