Northwood University will honor seven automotive aftermarket leaders with its annual Automotive Aftermarket Education Award on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The awards will be presented during a luncheon at the annual Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo Show (AAPEX). Northwood’s Automotive Aftermarket Education Award recognizes leaders for their contributions to the educational process in the automotive aftermarket field. The award was created to insure that these individuals receive national recognition for their efforts to improve education inside and outside the industry.

Tire Review has announced the winners of its 2007 Tire Review Top Shop Award. The Tire Review Top Shop Awards presented by Hennessy Industries seeks to honor the “best of the best” independent tire dealers in the U.S. and Canada. This year’s Top Shop winner is Gatto’s Tires & Auto Service, headquartered in Melbourne, FL. The seven-location dealership, owned by Pamela Gatto, has been in business for 35 years.

Speaker Lineup Announced for 2007 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium

The lineup of speakers has been announced for “Survival in a Changing Aftermarket,” the 2007 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) program, slated for May 8-9, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago. The GAAS 2007 program will begin with a special opening presentation at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, featuring a new video about the GAAS scholarship, which is funded by Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), Automotive Service Association (ASA) and Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA). Pete Kornafel, vice chairman of CARQUEST and chairman of the GAAS scholarship committee, will announce the number of scholarship presented, including the 2007 awards.

Northwood Presents Automotive Aftermarket Education Award, MAAP Designations at AAPEX Luncheon

Northwood University honored 10 automotive aftermarket leaders with its annual Automotive Aftermarket Education Award today at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The awards were presented during a luncheon at the annual Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo Show (AAPEX). In addition, Northwood’s University of the Aftermarket presented the MAAP (Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional) designation to two longtime distribution professionals, Doug Washbish and Timothy Trudnowski.
