OBITUARY: Dave McBroom, President Of The Florida Autobody Collision Alliance
William David “Dave” McBroom passed away peacefully on Oct. 11, in Jacksonville, Fla., at the age of 67. A native of Cookeville, Tenn., and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, McBroom served in the U.S. Army for 21 years and was a decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam before retiring as a Colonel.

Increased Floor Traffic, Record Seminar Attendance Reported for NORTHEAST 2012 Show
With a nearly 20-percent jump in show attendance as well as a record number of seminar attendees, the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey (AASP/NJ) is reporting that the NORTHEAST 2012 Automotive Services Show held March 9-11 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center of Secaucus, N.J., is the association’s most successful event to date.
CIC Votes 99-98 to Locate Fall 2011 Meeting with SEMA
Although CIC has previously held its fall meetings in conjunction with Automotive Service & Repair Week (ASRW), which includes NACE, the group held its fall gathering in conjunction with SEMA in Las Vegas last year. That decision was made on the heels of NACE moving its dates to mid-October, away from the SEMA and AAPEX events, which are typically held the first week of November.

The event kicked off Friday morning with keynote speaker George Avery, claims consultant with State Farm. Avery illustrated the changing collision repair landscape from an insurer’s point of view. He emphasized to the body shop owners and industry professionals in attendance that staying current on new technologies and understanding the evolving needs and wants of customers are key to shops’ success. Avery also hosted a breakout session, “How to Get on a DRP.”
