Four NASCAR Engine Builder Teams Race to the 2008 MAHLE Engine Builder Showdown Semi-Finals

Four teams have emerged as semi-finalists after a fierce competition among a record 23 teams in the first two rounds of the ninth annual MAHLE Engine Builder Showdown held May 5-8. Competing in this year’s Showdown semi-finals set to take place today, May 19, at the NASCAR Technical Institute (NTI) in Mooresville, N.C. are: * Trey Davis and Brian Buttrick from Roush Yates Racing Engines versus Dennis Borem and Darrell Hoffman from Pro Motor Engines * Jim Snyder and Mike Kasch from Roush Yates Racing Engines versus Mike Maiwald and Shane Parsnow from Hendrick Motorsports The two winning teams will face each other on May 20 at the Showdown finals, also at NTI.

Two ‘Rookie’ Teams Advance to Semi-Finals of Clevite’s Engine Builder Showdown

The 2006 Clevite Engine Builder Showdown preliminary rounds on May 2, 3 and 4 opened with a bang. The Showdown build record was once again broken and a mix of Showdown veterans and rookies advanced to the third round of competition. The competing engine builders assembled 357 cubic inch Ford engines — similar in design to those used by NASCAR’s Ford race teams. The first round of the Showdown, which was held May 2 and 3, served as a qualifying round. The eight fastest times advanced to round two — beginning the head-to-head competition.

Clevite Prepares for the Engine Builder Showdown’s Seventh Season

Clevite Engine Parts is gearing up to once again shine the spotlight on NASCAR’s hidden heroes of racing by sponsoring the 2006 Clevite Engine Builder Showdown. In keeping with previous competitions, 16 of NASCAR’s top engine builders will participate in the first round of the showdown. The competing engine builders will assemble 357 cubic inch Ford engines – similar in design to those used by NASCAR’s Ford race teams.

Hendrick Team Sets Another Engine Build Record

NASCAR’s Pre-Season Thunder at Daytona International Speedway hosted the second round of the Clevite Engine Builder Showdown on January 19 and 22. The event was the second record setting event of the season, when Mike Maiwald, long time Showdown participant and last year’s runner-up, shattered his own record setting time of 20 minutes and 20 seconds. Maiwald and his build partner Shane Parsnow set a new record build time of 18 minutes and 54 seconds.

Build Record Set at Round One of 2005 Clevite Engine Builder Showdown

Richard Childress Racing played host to Clevite Engine Parts and 16 of NASCAR’s top engine builders on January 5 and 6 in Welcome, NC, during the qualifying round of the Clevite Engine Builder Showdown. Round one was a record-setting day for Hendrick Engines. Mike Maiwald of Hendrick Engines, a longtime Showdown participant and last year’s runner-up, set a new engine build record along with his build partner Shane Parsnow. The former record of 20 minutes and 26 seconds (held by Danny Lawrence of Richard Childress Racing) was unseated with Maiwald’s new record setting build time of 20 minutes and 20 seconds.
