Cooper Appoints Mickey Thompson GM
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. announced the appointment of Steve Kersh as general manager of Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, a subsidiary of Cooper Tire. As general manager, Kersh will oversee all aspects of Mickey Thompson operations, including finance, human resources, sales and marketing, supply chain, information technology and business development.

This project aims to complete a state-of-the-art restoration of Mickey’s Challenger 2 Streamliner. The goal is to exceed the existing internal combustion wheel-driven land speed record of 417.020 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Cooper Tire Names New President for North America Tire Operations
Ostrander is taking the helm of Cooper’s more than $2 billion North America operations, which produce passenger car and light truck tires, primarily for sale in the U.S. replacement market. This operation’s footprint also includes wholly owned subsidiary, Mickey Thompson, a developer and distributor of specialty and off-road tires. Ostrander joins Cooper from Eaton Corp., where he was most recently vice president and general manager of the Torque Control Products Division.
Jim Chick Named President of MasterCraft
Robert Pierce, owner and CEO of MasterCraft, a manufacturer of off road, racing, performance and recreational seats and mounting hardware, has announced the hire of Jim Chick as president. Chick has built a career that spans nearly three decades in the specialty automotive aftermarket having held key positions with such industry leaders as Mr. Gasket, Mickey Thompson Tires and Trail Master Suspension Products.
Cooper Tire to Sponsor Saturn Motorsports Racing Program
Cooper Tire & Rubber and its subsidiary Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels, has announced a new sponsorship and supply agreement with Saturn Motorsports. The agreement positions Cooper Tire as a major associate sponsor of the Saturn Motorsports Pro FWD Ion, driven by three-time world champion and current NHRA point’s leader, Lisa Kubo. Cooper Tire will also title sponsor a Saturn Motorsports tuner car slated to compete later this year in Sport FWD.
