TI Automotive Adds Three to Management Ranks

TI Automotive has appointed three executives to key management positions. Rick Hein has become global commercial and IT director for TI Automotive’s fluid carry systems group, a newly created position, in Warren, Mich. Previously, he was responsible for the division’s quality and IT strategy. Rick will continue to report directly to Rich Kolpasky, president of global fluid carrying systems.

System Allows Consumers to Buy Salvage-Yard Auto Parts from New-Parts Dealers

Joseph “Joey” Woodfin IV seized an opportunity. He noticed how automotive salvage yards, such as his Woodfin Auto Parts business in Chesterfield County, Va., had been looking for ways to sell more used car parts to consumers. Also, national auto-parts retailers wanted to be able to offer different merchandise to keep shoppers coming back. Woodfin decided to merge the needs, creating a budding national business that links auto recyclers with car parts retailers. His new EverDrive LLC serves as a conduit for auto parts retailers to have access to a vast supply of used parts through a network of more than 200 auto recyclers across the country.

AASA, University of the Aftermarket Develop Supply Chain Management Program

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) has joined with the University of the Aftermarket to develop and promote a new supply chain management certification program. Aftermarket executives now can earn automotive aftermarket professional (AAP) or master AAP certification through the University of the Aftermarket. The supply chain management program is designed for aftermarket professionals involved in sales forecasting, purchasing, procurement, transportation, logistics, warehousing, production and materials control.

North American Auto R&D Center to Set Up in China

North American market leader in automotive quality inspection, the PSA Group of Companies, has signed an agreement with two local firms to set up a research center in this southern boomtown. The Canadian firm’s major business in China is currently in sourcing auto parts for its North American and Japanese clients, including General Motors, Ford, DaimlerChrysler and Yazaki.

Ira Davis Joins ARI

Ira Davis has joined ARI as vice president of purchasing and logistics. Davis brings broad experience in purchasing, remanufacturing and distribution to ARI. He comes from Forecast Products where he served as vice president, general manager for the company, with a focus on importing and distribution of automotive components, since 2002. Prior to that assignment, he worked with Beck/Arnley from 1976 to 2001.
