Winners of Inaugural CCC Information Services Outstanding Student Technician Scholarships Announced
CCC Information Services has announced the winners of its inaugural CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarships. Totaling $25,000, the CCC scholarships were created to assist collision repair students. Working in conjunction with the I-CAR Education Foundation, students from five select schools have been chosen for their academic achievement, attendance and dedication to the collision repair industry.
ASA Urges Support of Funding for Perkins Act
President George W. Bush’s 2007 budget proposal aims to eliminate funding to the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998, which provides funding for vocational education which, in turn, provides jobs and education for thousands of students. The Automotive Service Association (ASA) is in support of full funding for the Perkins Act and urges repairers to offer their support as well.
AMI Announces 2006-2007 Board of Trustees
The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) has announced its 2006-2007 Board of Trustees. John Francis Jr., AAM, of Francis Automotive Service, West Chester, PA, has been re-elected chairman; George Witt, AAM, of George Witt Service, Inc., Lincoln, NE, was re-elected vice-chair; Bob Pearson, AAM, of Pearson Auto Body, Shakopee, MN, was re-elected treasurer and Bill Sauer, founder of Identifix in Roseville, MN, was re-elected secretary.

AMI’s resource development effort, EXCEL, in conjunction with Babcox Publications, established the scholarship, which is awarded to an Automotive Service Association (ASA) Collision Division member who strives to be, or is presently working, in a management capacity.

NACE 2004 Space Draw Results Exceed 2003
The recently completed Space Draw for the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) 2004 event in Las Vegas showed an increase over 2003 in the number of participating companies and the amount of space assigned, indicating a strong start to NACE being held during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW) in November.
