Delphi Corp sold last month its entire 5.5 million shares of Akebono Brake Industry Co, roughly 5.9 percent of the brake maker’s outstanding shares, for an estimated 3.7 billion yen, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported without citing sources.

Akebono to Acquire Delphi’s Stake in U.S. Joint Venture

Akebono Brake Industry Co. said Tuesday that it will acquire on Sept. 30 Delphi Corp.’s stake in Ambrake Corp., a 50-50 joint venture, and turn it into a wholly owned subsidiary. The aim of the transaction is to “reorganize and strengthen our North American operations,” according to a company spokesperson.

Akebono Receives Excellence Award from National Catalog Managers Association

The award, which Akebono received for electronic catalog data submission, was presented by AMS Computer Group on May 3rd at the 32nd Annual NCMA Conference in Tempe, Ariz. Akebono Introduces Expanded 2004 ProACT Catalog

Akebono Corp. has announced the availability of its expanded 2004 ProACT Application Catalog, which features ProACT Ultra-Premium Ceramic Disc Brake Pads and Precision Remanufactured Loaded Calipers. Bruce Mardar Joins Akebono North America

Akebono Corp. has named Bruce Mardar eastern regional sales manager for aftermarket sales. Mardar replaces Carl Schaefer, who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year. Before joining Akebono, Mardar spent 14 years with Qualitee International, a supplier of aftermarket brake and clutch components, where he most recently served as national sales manager.
