Delphi Set to Trim 150 Tech Jobs

Auto-parts giant Delphi Corp. is shedding at least 150 well-paying technology jobs and will shift some of the work overseas to an Indian firm. The move is one step in the company’s effort to pare down its 500-person information technology staff. Troy, Mich.-based Delphi becomes just the latest multibillion-dollar corporation to move white-collar jobs to India or other lower-wage countries. The increasingly common development called offshoring has become a hot-button issue in the presidential campaign as jobs have been slow to return to the U.S. economy.

North American automotive suppliers and Japanese car manufacturers will meet to promote expanded business relationships at the 10th annual MEMA/JAMA One on One Business Conference, scheduled to take place Monday, Sept. 27, through Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn, Mich. The conference is sponsored by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA)

MACS Names New Events Manager

Wendy Moyer has joined the staff at the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide as its new events manager. Moyer has previous experience with event planning and management for the PGA tour and has a background in broadcast production. In her new role at MACS, Moyer’s duties will include management and planning of the MACS annual trade show and mobile A/C training clinics.

Cooper Tire Signs Supply Agreement with Hangzhou Rubber Co.

Cooper Tire and Rubber has signed an outsourcing agreement with Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co., located in Hangzhou, China. Hangzhou will supply approximately one million passenger radial tires to Cooper for sale in the U.S. Last October, Cooper announced an agreement with Hangzhou to supply Cooper with radial medium truck (RMT) tires which had previously been made at Cooper’s Albany, Ga., plant. The Albany facility will add passenger capacity to replace the RMT production.

Clarcor to Relocate Corporate Headquarters

Filtration products supplier, Clarcor Inc. is relocating its corporate headquarters from Rockford, Ill., to Nashville, Tenn. The move is expected to take place over the next six to 12 months.

Timken Transfers Some Logistics Operations to Joint Venture

Timken is transferring the balance of its Toronto, Ont., and Reno, Nev., warehousing operations to its joint venture CoLinx. CoLinx was formed as a joint venture between INA Holding Schaeffler KG, Rockwell Automation, The SKF Group and Timken. The company provides Web-based services and integrated logistics for premium-brand industrial manufacturers. Goudy Named Vice President PPG Automotive Aftermarket

Garry Goudy has been appointed vice president of PPG Industries’ automotive aftermarket, comprising automotive refinish coatings, automotive replacement glass and insurance and services. While continuing to lead PPG’s refinish coatings business, in this new role Goudy will assume broader responsibility for all of PPG’s automotive aftermarket business initiatives.
