Goudy Named Vice President PPG Automotive Aftermarket

Garry Goudy has been appointed vice president of PPG Industries' automotive aftermarket, comprising automotive refinish coatings, automotive replacement glass and insurance and services. While continuing to lead PPG's refinish coatings business, in this new role Goudy will assume broader responsibility for all of PPG's automotive aftermarket business initiatives.

PITTSBURGH — Garry Goudy has been appointed vice president of PPG Industries’ automotive aftermarket, comprising automotive refinish coatings, automotive replacement glass and insurance and services. Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries is a global supplier of coatings, glass and fiber glass and chemicals, with manufacturing facilities and equity affiliates in 23 countries.

While continuing to lead PPG’s refinish coatings business, in this new role Goudy will assume broader responsibility for all of PPG’s automotive aftermarket business initiatives. David Sharick, vice president, automotive replacement glass, will report to Goudy as will David Arno, general manager, insurance and services.

“We have recognized for some time the potential synergies among our businesses which serve the automotive aftermarket,” said Charles Bunch, PPG president and COO. “This organization change will accelerate the pace of realizing organic growth in this critical market. Given our array of products and services, we have a unique opportunity to strengthen our position in this market. Garry’s experience makes him uniquely qualified to take us to the next level in this market.”

Goudy joined subsidiary PPG Canada Inc. in 1970 and progressed through assignments of increasing responsibility including Toronto regional sales manager; national jobber manager; glass manager and flat glass sales manager, Ontario; general manager, flat glass sales; and general manager, commercial products and distribution for Canada.

After moving to PPG’s Pittsburgh headquarters in 1988 as general manager of North American glass branch distribution, Goudy became general manager of North American flat glass sales and marketing, general manager of North American glass trade products and general manager of auto replacement glass. He was named vice president, automotive replacement glass in 1997, and vice president, automotive refinish coatings in 2001.
