DIAMOND BAR, Calif. Organizers for the 2012 SEMA Show say that the restyling industry is on track to make a strong presence at this year’s event, which takes place Oct. 30 Nov. 2 in Las Vegas.
The Restyling & Car Care Accessories area of the 2012 SEMA Show will feature more than 300 companies, including manufacturers of seat covers, dash covers, floor mats, sunroofs and more.
“The restyling market focuses on the appearance of a vehicle,” said Peter MacGillivray, SEMA VP of events and communications. “The industry is filled with products that enhance the styling and appearance of cars, trucks and SUVs. It really is the foundation of what we consider to be fashion for the automotive industry.”
Restyling is among the SEMA industry’s most active areas, the association says. The section has traditionally represented one of the SEMA Show’s top three largest sections, along with Racing & Performance, Trucks and Tires. With 300-plus exhibitors confirmed for the 2012 Show, this year’s show marks a record high for the Restyling area.
“New car owners like to personalize their vehicles and make it their own,” said MacGillivray. “In addition, many vehicle owners are keeping their cars and trucks longer and often update the look with new seats or floor mats. It’s easy to see why there’s so much interest and activity in this market segment.”
As the number of exhibitors showcasing products in the area goes up, so, too, does the interest from independent installers and restylers, SEMA says. Throughout the week of the SEMA Show, a number of programs and activities will take place that are targeted specifically to restyling professionals.
Spearheaded by the Professional Restylers Organization (PRO), a SEMA council, the activities include a PRO Reception where the industry is able to gather and network with one another; as well as PRO Garage hosted by PRO. The all-new event is part of the Technical Skills and Training Conference (TSTC) taking place on Thursday, Nov. 1. Participants will take part in hands-on training sessions and demonstrations that cover critical growth markets such as custom interiors, heated seats, mobile electronics, paint protection, window film, sunroofs and more.
