Pronto Adds New California Member

JUSTIN, TEXAS — Continuing the aggressive growth spurt that it has been on for the past several months, National Pronto Association announced yesterday that California-based Smothers Auto Parts and Performance Accessories has joined the programmed distribution group.

Smothers is located in Santa Rosa, Calif., and is a full-line automotive and performance parts distribution center. The company has been in business in the same area since 1974. Mark Smothers serves as president of the company, and Don Gomez is the general manager.

Smothers Auto Parts, was remodeled a few years ago creating an up front show room with space available to display customers “custom and performance” cars and trucks. The unique store design features a custom and performance showroom and a warehouse full of traditional hard parts for servicing the professional service centers.

Smothers is the sixth new member to join Pronto this year, bringing the Pronto membership to over 50 shareholder owners.

Gravity has released a new universal on-street mounting and cable system, dubbed “DEAP Trees,” for its 200kW and 500kW Distributed Energy Access Points (DEAPs). Gravity said it is striving to develop a network of on-street DEAP charging more expansive than Tesla’s current Supercharger network.

Gravity’s engineers, in collaboration with design firm Rangr Studio, took on the challenge of solving frictions in curbside charging today. Each Gravity universal DEAP Tree has a hinged swing arm holding a cable that pivots down when charging begins, allowing it to reach the port of every make and model. When charging is completed, the arm raises automatically and the EV connector latches back onto the pole and out of sight.
