Aisin Celebrates Grand Opening of Fowlerville Proving Ground

Aisin Holdings of America, Inc. (AHA), the holding company for all Aisin Group operations in North America, celebrated the grand opening of its 878-acre automotive components test track and proving ground in Handy Township, MI. The celebration took place before nearly 200 people, including Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, auto industry executives and local business and community leaders.

Clevite Engine Parts, NASCAR Technical Institute and Dianne Dorton Team Up to Honor Late Engine Builder Randy Dorton

This year’s final round of the Clevite Engine Builder Showdown will become a particularly poignant celebration, serving as a memorial to the life of the late Randy Dorton, former director of engine development for Hendrick Motorsports. Dorton, and seven other members of the Hendrick Motorsports team, along with two pilots, were killed in a plane crash last October. The Dorton family, along with Clevite Engine Parts and the NASCAR Technical Institute (NTI), where the final round of competition will be held on May 24, have teamed up to organize a number of events in memory of Dorton.

SAE Foundation Launches $20 Million Centennial Campaign; GM Pledges Gift of $5 Million

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Foundation has launched a multi-million dollar centennial campaign entitled “Inspiring A New Generation.” The campaign, which coincides with the celebration of SAE International’s 100th anniversary, was established with the goal of raising $20 million to expand the reach and impact of SAE’s various educational programs. The program will be conducted in two phases — Phase 1 will run through the end of 2005.
