Progressive Automotive Systems Announces R.O. Writer Smart eCat Internet Parts Acquisition Tool

Progressive Automotive Systems, Inc. (PAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Midas International, had announced the release of R.O. Writer Smart eCat, an Internet parts acquisition tool that reaches out to IAP, AConneX and independent online parts vendors for real-time parts availability and pricing. R.O. Writer Smart eCat was demonstrated in November to industry participants at the SEMA, CARS and AAPEX tradeshows in Las Vegas, according to Paul Van Camp, PAS director of sales.

Clevite Announces Two Executive Promotions

Clevite Engine Parts this week announced promotions for two of its executives to new posts. Ted Hughes has been promoted to the position of NAPA business development manager for Clevite Engine Parts. Clevite also announced the promotion of Jesse Jones, a 24-year Dana veteran, to director of marketing.

AAPEX Branding Strategy Featured As Best Practice in EXPO Magazine

The branding strategy used to build a new look for the 2004 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) was chosen as a Best Practice by EXPO magazine and featured in the publication’s March issue. The article, “Extreme Makeover,” details the steps taken to create a new look that would brand AAPEX as a must-attend event for the $250 billion automotive aftermarket industry.

Stop Counterfeiting Brochure Now Available Free to MEMA Members

The latest information on counterfeiting is now available through a new brochure created by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA). The brochure — “Stop Counterfeiting of Automotive and Truck Parts,” is available free to members MEMA’s market segment associations: the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA) and the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA).

Register for AAPEX Online at a $40 Savings

Registration for the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) – set for Tuesday, Nov. 2, through Friday, Nov. 5, at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas – is now open online. Registering online nets participants a $40 savings and includes admission to the three Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW) tradeshows for just $10 – AAPEX, the International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE), Wednesday, Nov. 3, through Saturday, Nov. 6, at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino; and the SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. AAIW is the largest annual trade event in Las Vegas.

New Web Site Launched for Global Automotive Aftermarket Exporting Information

The Overseas Automotive Council (OAC) has launched a new Web site — www.oac-intl.org — designed to be an industry resource for information on exporting aftermarket products worldwide. OAC is the international aftermarket division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA). The council promotes the sale in foreign markets of automotive products manufactured in North America.
