Bosch Acquires Accu Industries

The Bosch Group is acquiring the operating assets of Accu Industries Inc., located in Ashland, VA. Accu Industries employs 45 associates and generated sales of roughly $16 million in 2007. The company sells tire changers, wheel balancers and wheel alignment equipment. With the acquisition, Bosch is strengthening its automotive aftermarket division and further expanding the workshop equipment business of its diagnostics business unit.

NASCAR Engine Builder Teams Sign Up Early to Compete in the 2008 MAHLE Engine Builder Showdown

The first round of the 2008 MAHLE Engine Builder Showdown is more than two months away, but already multiple NASCAR engine builder teams have signed up to compete in the contest, which pits teams in a race to build and run a Chevy RO7 engine in the shortest time possible. The Showdown, a tiered four-round competition, begins on May 5. This is the ninth year of the annual MAHLE competition for NASCAR engine builders.

Advance Auto Parts Launches New Branding Campaign

Advance Auto Parts has launched a new branding campaign. The campaign, titled “Keep the Wheels Turning,” launched with new television and radio commercials on Feb. 3. Additional elements of the campaign will include outdoor, print and online media. The company said its new positioning was designed to speak to both DIY and commercial customers.

Dennis Welvaert, president, North American aftermarket division, Dayco Products LLC., Tulsa, OK, took office as chairman of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Board of Governors at the board’s Nov. 8 board meeting in Chicago. Welvaert is a 37-year veteran in the automotive industry.
