Plans are already well underway for the 2009-10 Leadership 2.0 class, which will assemble for its first weeklong session Sept. 20-25, on the Northwood University campus in Midland, Mich.

XL Parts to Acquire Continental Parts Company
The assets and operations acquired by XL Parts will include Continental Parts distribution facilities in Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth, Texas, along with its Oklahoma City, Okla., operation.

2008/09 Leadership 2.0 Class Nearly Sold Out
Just two spots remain in the 2008/09 class of the University of the Aftermarket’s Leadership 2.0 program, an MBA-level executive development experience designed specifically for aftermarket professionals. University of the Aftermarket Director Brian Cruickshank reported that 23 of the 25 available positions have been filled. To reserve one of the two remaining spots, aftermarket professionals are urged to contact university offices as soon as possible.

A record number of aftermarket execs laced up their running shoes for a worthy cause last week. The Leadership Development Network (LDN) hosted its annual Fun Run benefit during the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) Spring Leadership Days, which took place April 9-11 in Bonita Springs, Florida. While in Bonita Springs, aftermarketNews Editor Amy Antenora talked with LDN Chairman Jason Porrini about the history of the Fun Run, as well as his own experiences as one of the first participants in LDN’s Next Generation Club program.

Our annual review of the top 20 Super Stores reveals that much maneuvering and positioning has gone on in the past year and will continue in ’08. Once again this month we conduct our annual review of the top 20 Super Stores in the United States, and once again we find the big chains are continuing to get bigger. While few significant moves were made in ’07, as I write this article we are closely monitoring a major development among two of the top five store chains: O’Reilly’s attempt to purchase CSK. If successful, this will be a key advancement for O’Reilly, not just in store count but (perhaps, more importantly) in geographic coverage and shareholder value.
