Bosal Opens New Headquarters and Manufacturing Facility in Michigan

Bosal International North America, a member of the Bosal Group, a global manufacturer of exhaust systems and components, has opened a new 183,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing plant in Ypsilanti, MI. The new, $25 million production facility combines two former Bosal operations in the Detroit area — the Warren, MI, production site and Ann Arbor, MI, technical center. 

PPG to Distribute New Wastewater Treatment Technology to Automotive OEMs

PPG Industries has signed an agreement with Plymouth Technology, Inc. to distribute Metals Removal System (MRS) wastewater treatment technology to the North American automotive original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) market. PPG will distribute this technology under the PPG brand name "Water Wise Solutions."

Delphi and Tomorrow’s Technician Magazine Bring the Vehicle Electronics Revolution to Tennessee School

Delphi Corp. and Babcox Publication’s Tomorrow’s Technician magazine are bringing the future of the automotive aftermarket to life for a class at the Tennessee Technology Center in Jackson, TN. Tomorrow’s Technician selected the class as the winner of the magazine’s monthly pop quiz, and Delphi awarded the class with $3,500 in tools and equipment. Representatives from Delphi and Babcox were at the school to present a plaque, tools and equipment, participate in a school tour and interact with students. Along with the award, Delphi provided a training seminar for students on the future of vehicle technology.

Executive Interview with Michael Tate, General Manager, MAHLE Clevite Inc.

In September, Michael Tate joined MAHLE Clevite as general manager. He brings 26 years of aftermarket experience to MAHLE Clevite, most recently with SPX Service Solutions. In addition to SPX, Tate held a variety of sales management positions with such companies as Parker Automotive, Dorman Products and Phillips & Temro Industries. As GM of MAHLE Clevite, Tate has management responsibility for all North American Aftermarket activities for the MAHLE Group, which includes MAHLE Clevite Inc., MAHLE Clevite Canada, ULC and the Aftermarket division of MAHLE Componentes de Motores S.A. de C.V.

Northwood University to Honor Seven Aftermarket Professionals

Northwood University will honor seven automotive aftermarket leaders with its annual Automotive Aftermarket Education Award on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. The awards will be presented during a luncheon at the annual Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo Show (AAPEX). Northwood’s Automotive Aftermarket Education Award recognizes leaders for their contributions to the educational process in the automotive aftermarket field. The award was created to insure that these individuals receive national recognition for their efforts to improve education inside and outside the industry.

Lear Reports Improved Productivity and Savings as a Result of Lean Manufacturing System

Lear Corp., a supplier of automotive seating systems, electrical distribution systems and electronic products, said this week that lean manufacturing processes have resulted in major productivity improvements and cost savings for the company. Speaking at the Automotive Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) Global Conference, which took place earlier this week in Dearborn, MI, Tony Coomer, the company’s vice president of Advanced Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement-Seating Systems, said lean manufacturing techniques have been deployed throughout the company’s global manufacturing network.

Executive Interview with Steve Reindl, General Manager for Shell Lubricants National Accounts

This week we hear from Steve Reindl, general manager for Shell Lubricants National Accounts. Reindl manages a cross-functional team of sales, category management, forecasting and replenishment specialists. Reindl and his team work with national accounts to improve Shell Lubricants’ position in the automotive aftermarket. Shell was recognized by key customers, AutoZone and Advance, as Vendor of the Year in 2006. Reindl joined Shell in October 2001. Prior to joining Shell, he held progressive management positions with Oscar Mayer, Kraft Foods and Pepperidge Farm. Reindl has more than 20 years’ experience in the commercial industry within the food, mass merchandiser and club retail environment. He worked for Echlin and Dana Corporation for 20 years at the Brake Parts Inc. division where he served as president for 13 years, building the business to one of the largest manufacturers in the industry. After retiring from Dana, he worked with ARI and as a consultant for Global Parts Solutions. Pavey has been an active industry participant, serving on the Board of Directors for ASIA , APAA, AAIA, ASE, MEMA and the Manufacturers Advisory Council for AWDA. He has participated in numerous industry committees and initiatives.
